Solis – A Multicultural Mental Health Professional and Peer Community
A capacity-building, support & resource network for culture-oriented, multicultural mental health advocates & practitioners.
Solis is a community of practice that brings together a group of interdisciplinary multicultural mental health advocates and professionals – who occupy positions “both inside and outside the community.”
As the Professional and Peer arm of the Australia Institute for Diversity in Mental Health (AIDMH), Solis focuses on supporting the specific practice, professional development and uplifting of multicultural mental health practitioners and advocates, and their work, which in turn feeds back into our outward facing work and the mental health sector.
By creating an intentional, safe and supported avenue that allows for transparent conversation and understanding, Solis contributes to the aims of AIDMH in various ways including in starting to reduce the silos (Ie. the opposite of Solis!) and work toward a more efficient and meaningful use of limited resources.
In particular, Solis focuses on creating opportunities for capacity-building, as well as emotional and practical support for multicultural practitioners to continue contributing meaningfully and sustainably within the broader mental health sector.
