AIDMH centralises research and projects on multicultural mental health.

In aligning with our broader values, AIDMH seeks to reduce silos and redundancy in the research space by making academia and data more accessible.

Allowing research to be shared in insightful ways across platforms also contributes to the more effective use of resources – to ensure that we continue to build on the shoulders of giants.

Some areas of research include:

Policy, Systems & Barriers to mental health care

What recommendations and strategies can community organisations use to ensure their services are culturally responsive and safe? How can we better support bi-cultural workers? How can we better support and improve access to interpreters and translated material?

Experiences of mental ill-health & Mental health literacy

What is the understanding of mental health, well-being and mental illness in multicultural communities? How do diverse communities conceptualise mental health? What is the data on the prevalence and impact of mental illness on different multicultural communities?

Community engagement & Facilitators of mental health care

How can we better engage with multicultural communities to support access to the relevant services and programs? How can we make our offerings more accessible? What are the strategies to empower multicultural communities to support their mental health and thrive in Australia?
